CV joint? Seems odd it would be coming from the dash... but other than
the noise the info sounds consistent.

OTOH when accelerating hard in my 900 I get similar noises from the
dash... I think it's actually a combination of turbo-whine and the AC
fans suddenly getting a boost of energy from the alternator. It's pretty
low on my list of things to fix right now though :)
