That inverter will pull an additional 12-15 amps from your alternator, depending on efficiency. That's about equal to 3 more headlights. I don't think it's a good idea to do it on a continuous basis. You'd be better off to base your MP3 player on a notebook computer that can be run directly from the 12V system (via an appropriate adapter, if necessary). The extra $$ you pay for the system will be paid back in lack of system failures later. ----------------- John Weiss Seattle, WA remove *nospam* from e-mail address for reply Christopher Prouty <chrispnopsamemovethis.net> wrote in message news:ruhk48a1lg780nopsam.supernews.com... > Hi all. > > I am building an MP3 player to integrate with my stereo in my 1995 9000 CS. > The player itself will be a pentium 166 with a sound card and a hard drive > and a network interface card. > > To power the computer I am planning on installing a 140W power inverter. > > My question is: Since this inverter will be powering the system and drawing > off the car's battery (only when the car is running of course), will this > cause any dammage to my car's electrical system?
