Subject: Transmission Problems - 71 Sonett III

I'm considering purchasing a 1971 Sonett III that needs some help. The transmission will shift into third and fourth fine, but will not shift into first, second, or reverse. Any of those behave just like neutral. No noise or grinding or anything, just nothing. Look at the selector shaft on the tranny, it looks like when the shaft is in all the way it select third and fourth, which work. To shift into first or second, the shaft must come out, and for reverse, it must come out even further. Could this be a selector fork problem? I don't know much about Saabs, how available are parts for this thing? Please email me any help you can provide, and thanks much in advance.
