I saw some crash tests of typical ladder frame with bolted on body 4x4s head on with mid size family cars. What typically happens, in a head on, is that the 4x4 rides up over the hood/bonnet of the saloon car killing the front seat occupants just before the bolt-on bodywork folds up killing the occupants of the 4x4. The newer ones (Mercedes and ?)with unit construction body/chassis are probably much better for the 4x4 folks but still not much fun for us in our lowered SAABs.
