>There are two noted differences between the cars (that perhaps a Volvo owner >may debate): A Saab will not likely leave you stranded. Very seldom is there >a malfunction or failure which will prevent you from limping home. We have owned six Volvos and only once have we been left stranded when an alternator went out cause it was missed on the service, This car had 230,000 miles. and here i am to debate this, but i am going to. Our next door niehbors have a (89 or 90) Saab Convertible with 85,000miles they have had it towed twice once at 20,000 miles when an electrical problem stopped the car in the carpool lane, and once more with a bad clutch. When I asked them what they thought about the car they said it is fun around town but not worth the costs of repairs and the overall inreliability, they also talked about how hard it is to find shops that will work on Saabs. >The other difference begs the question "Do you like to drive". Saabs are >much more FUN, and designed with the driver in mind. Look at the cockpit. >Look at the acceleration. Check the horsepower they achieve with such little >engine displacement. Volvos are designed diffrentley in the fact that they are more of a car desighned more for comfort. Saabs do not compare to Volvos in comfort, Volvos seats can be set in for hours on end and you will not get tired. The cockpits in Volvos may not look so cool but they are very easy and very nice to use. I am begining to think you have not driven one of the newer Volvo turbos, they have incredible power, and are just as quike (if not faster)as the Saab. >Saabs are (in my opinion) designed for safety, reliability, performance, and >utility. Volvos have many of these characteristics, but fall short in areas >that are important to me. Volvos have lower driver injury and death rates, and better crash test rates, they are IMHO much more reliable than Saabs(and alot cheaper to fix), they may not to be as fun to drive(Saabs are fun)but much more comfterable and I think extremely utilitarian.
