Take it out and with help get somebody to crank the car over when cold. DIrect the spray into a jar or bottle The spray should be even and consistant. In addition check that the fuel metering device, the one bolted to the engine near the front below the thermostat housing is working correctly as the amount of fuel delivered is dependent on the temperature of this device. THis is for the older bosch lk or lj (I thing thats the right type)injection. Finally check all the connections to the temperature sensors on the engine are clean and dry. If your car has carbs then check for air leaks around the mainifolds. If your car has the later injection, with an air flow meter and "electric" injectors the checks are the same, but it's usually a dodgy temperature sensor. THe variations in fuel consumption could be down to old injectors. They do wear out, but is more likely due to the above. How many miles has your car done. I have 2 saabs a 92 with 118,000 miles and a 86 with 189,000, the latter needed two new injectors the other day and seems to be returning better fuel consumption figures than before Good Luck, Malcolm Scotland Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
