I probably have similar problems. Rough cold starting, plus lousy mpg in town. My idle was high anyway. My mechanic lowered the idle, but it started cutting out when cold. He assumed the (?) automatic valve opening up the throttle was sticking, so opened it up a little. It's a nut on top of the cylinder head with yellow paint round it. Anyway, whatever he did cured the problem, and the idle is back where it should be. I only got 12.5 mpg in town on my last tank (average for mixed driving is 23.5, or on motorway only about 32). Traffic was pretty dreadful, with a lot of time stationary with the engine going at the previous idle of about 1,100. That's my story. Andy
