Good cars, overall, so long as they've been maintained. Check any records that are with the car, and if the Saab garage has history with that particular car. Bodies, interiors, etc. are solid and wear very, very well for a car of that vintage. Rust is not terribly common. Some areas to check carefully: -If the car has ABS, make certain brake fluid has been changed per schedule. The pump for that system is a *very* pricey item. -Try to skip 9000s with automatic transmissions. -Check to see whether the cylinder head gasket and harmonic balancer have ever been changed. One-time-only events for both, as designs of both items were greatly improved over the years. -Check to see whether the heater core is leaking, as well as condition of the blower fan. Not ridiculously expensive parts, but not fun to replace. -Check the condition of the alternator brushes and regulator, before they fail, necessitating alternator replacement, also not a fun task on that car.
