Werner: I had a similar problem in my new 1995 900 Turbo. Sometimes a mild smell, sometimes strong on the cabin. Took quite a bit of effort to find. It wasn't really a gas leak. But there are a number of vapor collection systems in the car and a line to one of the filters for those was cracked. It was located in the rear fender as I recall.
