Subject: Re: Adding Cruise Control to a classic 900?

I did an '82 (which I still have, and the cruise control still works) and an '83. The '83 had a large hole under the dash predrilled for the installation of the computer box, which I had to drill out in the '82. The main installation points are: Install vacuum-actuated controller to throttle assembly (bolt on). Install auxiliary vacuum accumulator in fenderwell (bolt on; cut & splice a vacuum line). Install magnets and sensor on drive axle (wire tie; bolt on). Remove kneepad from under dash (3 bolts, 1 wire). Route wires and vacuum lines through firewall (can be a pain if current routes are already stuffed with wires). Install computer box under left end of dash (bolt on; drill large hole for '82 model and earlier -- a _real_ pain). Install cutout switches on brake and clutch pedals (bolt on). Cut end off turn signal stalk and replace with Cruise Control unit (hacksaw; bolt on with set screws). Connect all wires and vacuum lines. IIRC, it took about 3 leisurely hours for the first one, less than 2 for the second one. ----------------- John Weiss Seattle, WA remove *nospam* from e-mail address for reply Johan Lauwers <lauwers.sablonnopsam.be> wrote in message news:7ui55j$8m8$2nopsam3.Belgium.EU.net... > So apparantly my mechanic is wrong on that. > > Any additional info on the installation ? > > Johan
