It did go bang after we rebuilt the head. But this is the primary drive chain i'm talking about here and not the timing chain. My theory is that after the head was done there was another 20Bhp comming out of the engine and th sad old chain couldn't take it any more. We'd just returned from wales having given the car a right hiding chasing the RAC rally around. But there was no extra noises that i'd noticed, like the tensioners having failed.
