Actually, it sounds to me like you've got a shorting cable to the CD-changer... this problem shouldn't occur as it's a very simple electrical mechanism that "detects" if the changer is there... i.e. if there's a current flow then it's there, if not then it's not. Simple. If this mechanism isn't working on several head units and changers then the next thing to check is going to be the cable between the two. It ain't gonna be pretty replacing that cable, but you might get lucky and just have chafed connectors on the ends... only problem is getting spare connectors from Clarion!
