Subject: Re: 9-3 not a performance car?

<grin> Yeah, I'm one of the more vocal Saab-ites around here I think... I'm one of those terribly opinionated people who's not afraid to let people know his opinion. Of course, I also take opinion well too... but expect an argument if it differs from mine ;) Seriously though... as I said I wrote the post because I felt that Geoff was being harsh on the 9-3. No, it isn't an out-and-out performance car... the acceleration from stop can seem anemic at times... but in terms of handling it's on a level playing field with BMW... and as far as highway acceleration and passing etc. it surpasses most cars I've ever driven... actually ANY car I've ever driven. Even my GTP feels out of breath at 65-70mph. It can keep accelerating... the engine and tranny are more than capable enough... but it's a heavy car. Maybe a smaller pulley on the SC... Anyway... I digress. I was actually talking to my SO last night about the 900... and we both agreed that one day when it eventually bites the dust we're going to be buying another Saab. Probably a 9-3 or whatever's around by then (I'm assuming the same)... mostly because it's a really nice-sized car with plenty of room for hauling, plenty of performance, and seems to be highly adaptable to just about any role you like; family car, sports sedan, light cargo hauler, very fast grocery getter, even makes julienne fries... hehe :)) Glad you enjoyed the read!! ;) -- Gavin Haslett thumper_svxnopsamo.com http://www.geocities.com/thumper_svx "Ahhhh...
