Subject: 1999 Saab 9-5 Key Question

I had the misfortune of a valet parking attendant "losing" the key to my new 9-5 earlier today. Don't know how that happened...the remote entry/alarm unit was still on the ring, but the key was gone. So it looks like I'm going to need to get a new key made. I know that each car is programmed with a specific transmitter code that is required to start the ignition. My question is, since there is a key floating around out there, can the dealer have the car reprogrammed to require a new transmitter code? I know the likelyhood of someone finding the key and subsequently finding my car is slim, but I'd sleep better knowing there's no possibility of that happening. Someone had told me the replacement keys are made in Georgia and must be shipped out. Anyone know how much the replacement keys cost, and time to get them shipped? Thanks for your help! --Drew
