Actually... the cars themselves don't survive wrecks well at all. The Saab philosophy is that the car is designed to take the brunt of a collision, thus leaving the passengers alive. I like this idea... your car can be replaced but you can't! Your chances of walking away from a wreck are higher in a Saab than in just about any other car on the road. On the flip-side... Saabs are engineered to survive better the more unusual wrecks... like the infamous "moose-test" type wrecks. They're designed to keep you alive even if they have to sacrifice themselves.
