I've noticed similar things quite often... I simply refuse to believe there are that many dorks on the road, so I look for other explanations. What I think is that these actions may be almost unconscious, and that as you move to pass there is a natural tendency to want to "keep up" - they see traffic passing them by and unconsciously move to correct their slow speed. I know half the drivers out there are completely on auto-pilot and don't involve any of their higher brain functions when they drive, so it would not surprise me if this is what was happening. Clearly, there are idiots out there - people who for whatever reason believe that they are driving the ideal speed and everyone else should do as they do - the woman you mentioned no doubt fit into this category. But, I know I have even caught myself going faster than I intended to simply because traffic was passing me by and my foot responded... :) Usually after driving long distances or when returning home after a long day - those times when my brain is tired and not interested in driving. :) -Justin
