my 96 900 also has more dust on the front than the rear. Since the car is front wheel drive, and the weight distribution is 60/40 front, the front brakes probably have to work a little harder. That's just a guess, but I don't think there is a problem with your brakes. The dust comes off easily with just water and a sponge or rag, I haven't used any special cleaners on the wheels.
