Since it is an older car you would have to definately replace shocks, springs and make sure you check the rubber suspension brushings, they affect the suspension more than you would think. About the high rpm, as long as the engine is warmed up the cams, valves should be alright, in this particular car I think the power steering pump would most likely get damaged from sustained high rpm, leading to leaking of fluid at high rpm, then eventually all the time. From my experience the seals on some of the Saab steering components aren't the greatest, replacing it with a refurbished model with new style gaskets should do fine. Hope all your work goes well!
