Try it out. There's a tradeoff between performance and fuel grade and fuel of a too low octane can cause engine knock under load which can be damaging. Is it a plain 900 (ie non-turbo)? If so, you can probably go ahead. I certainly did with my old '86 900 Carb version and still do with my '92 900S light-pressure turbo version.
