Subject: Driveshaft popping out

I have a 900 classic (1989) and have experienced the driveshaft on the right side of the car come out of the driver cup (attached to the gearbox) four times now. This only happens under hard acceleration. The reason why this keeps happening is that the tripod joint attached to the end of the driveshaft does not appear to go far enough into the driver cup. In other words, it seems that the engine has been mounted too far to the left. Has anyone got any suggestions why this might be so? It was suggested that the problem could be due to a collapsed engine mount. In fact the left engine mount had collapsed and I replaced it. Although this helped a little it is still the case that while the left driveshaft is located deep inside the driver cup the driveshaft on the right side is only just inside the driver cup. Is it possible to move the engine righwards by an inch or so? Do the mounts allow this? Cheers, Alan.
