I have a more than somewhat rusty '86 900 that runs great. The headliner is also in shreds. I use it for my "winter" car, since more salt could not do any more damage. I recommend keeping your '83 for several reasons. First as a winter car, if it slides on ice and if totaled, so what. Second, people are getting more careless about opening their car doors, a dent in the side of the '83 will hurt less. Third, while Saabs never were high on the theft list, an old rusty Saab has got to be even lower on the list. Finally, a non-turbo car is great for short runs to the local stores. Idling the turbo for a few minutes after every run to cool it down gets to be a pain.
