i have an '89 900Turbo and the heated seats don't work. i'm assuming that they are probably "dead". is there any quick troubleshooting to this problem? i was told that the coils are very thin and break over the years. makes sense, but i wasn't sure if it's possible to replace them without spending a fortune. i have another problem "brewing". when my car runs "hot" (i.e., city driving for awhile with the fan going on and off) it likes to leak oil from the back of the motor. i'm not sure exactly where it's leaking from but with my luck it's the most expensive place. there seems to be oil leaking a bit from the front and the back, but surprisingly i rarely have to add any (maybe a 1/2 quart between oil changes). i can even smell it burning?? i'm sure it will get worse and i'm wondering if any of these leaks are correctable without getting sodomized by a garage. even if they're fair, changing seals is always "time-consuming". oh yeah, as if i don't have enough problems, my car is "knocking" for a couple minutes before it warms up. this just started now that it's around 20 degrees or so here. i almost don't want to know where this is headed but if anyone has had this problem, i'm curious what happened. also, thanks to everyone in this newsgroup for the advice. i wish i had some words of wisdom to repay you all with, but i'm an ignoramus. i do have a somewhat rusty '83 4-door 900 (that actually runs pretty well) i may be "dumping". it needs tires, a cv joint and a clutch master and/or slave cylinder. but other than that it runs as nice, if not nicer than my 89 turbo. i'm still debating what i want to do with it (it might just become a winter car) but if anyone might be interested, let me know. thanks again, jim leone leone123nopsamigy.net
