I have a VERY similar problem in my 96 900SE... actually identical. My theory is that water gets INTO the struts as moisture on the surface of the piston... then when it's cold and sits it freezes... then once you start moving it breaks up the ice causing the "crunching". If the weather's warm enough it melts with the heat generated by strut movement... if not it remains particles of ice floating in the oil... which means the crunching remains but it less evident. Just a theory.. but one that seems to fit the facts (unless someone wants to tell me otherwise) -- Gavin Haslett thumper_svxnopsamo.com "The early bird gets the worm...
