The best thing your friend can do is clean the battery terminals and cables once every 3 to 6 months. Once they are cleaned put a coating of vaseline on them. I also have the rubber covers over my battery terminals I picked up at Walmart. If your friends battery requires maintenance from time to time, make sure distilled water is used to top off the fluid levels in the cells.
