Subject: reading check engine codes

The check engine light has come on and them gone out several days later on my 95 9000 Aero. This scenerio has happened several times now and it's time to figure out what's going on. I've checked around and I don't see any obvious problems and the car seems to be driving well. Is there any way other than a visit to the dealer to read the codes? I do most of the work on my Saabs myself and it was easy to read codes on my various 900s. I suspect I have to purchase a box if I want to be able to read 9000 codes. What do I need, where can I get it and what will it cost. Thanks Bob rgbnopsam.columbia.edu
