<Snip> Jim, Agree with both John and Julie. It's easy enough to remove the light clusters and the trim in the rear (Hatchback or boot (trunk) version?) In my saabs the wiring is under the boot floor, check nobody has bodged any wiring in using "scotchlocks" and or lots of sticky tape! Clean up the earth termials that are screwed to the floor rail, usually in the middle. If you remove the side trim you will have access to the back of the light clusters, turn the screws half a turn to release, again check for corrosion, cut and or damaged wires etc. Sounds like there is a crossed wire somewhere where the power in the brake light circuit is feeding back through the sidelight circuit. Just out of curiosity does the same thing happen when the headlights are on? Hope this helps Let us know how you get on Malc Scotland PS no sign of work around the fuse box?
