Last summer my nephew followed me (me in the Saab) and reported that I had a puff of black smoke every time I punched it. This fall I took it into the dealer for a regular check up and asked them to look at the smoking. They reported they could find nothing wrong and could not duplicate the smoke. Since then I've followed my wife driving the Saab and saw the smoke first hand. It is one puff of black smoke emitted each time the car is punched hard. So I took it back to the dealer, and had them follow me. Now they admit it is smoking. But now claim they can find nothing wrong and it is normal operation. In the dealer's defense, they have been excellant on warranty work and have fixed several items, mechanical and cosmetic, with no complaints. In fact while they were trouble shooting the smoking, they discovered a small oil leak in the turbo, which I was unaware of, and replaced the turbocharger, under warranty. So I am inclined to believe them when they say they have checked all the "known" possible causes of the smoke. Is anyone else experiencing this smoking on a 900 SET? Does anyone have ideas on "unknown" causes that could be causing the smoke? They car goes out of warranty soon, so I am trying to get any last minute nits fixed.
