Subject: Re: LOST BRAKES COMPLETLY

<Snip>Brad Is the car loosing fluid? Check around all the wheels for signs of this. Also check all the hoses leading to the front calipers and the rears to for any sign of blistering or leaks. Finally on a car that old some of the pipes may be corroded. If you haven't lost any fluid then the chances are that the seals in the master cylinder have gone. The booster(servo)can fail, but the symtoms are more effort required for the brakes as the vacuum fails. Not sure about 9000's but the servo could be under the dash. The system is basically the same as a 900. THe master cylinder is relatively easy to change although I would recommend soaking all the pipe connections with something like WD-40 overnight before trying to undo them. Broken pipes at the front are a b***er to change. I'm sorry I have never had a car with ABS so I don't know about that. Can they leak internally? Use a good fluid at least DOT 4 and blead the whole system. Hope this helps MAlc Scotland Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
