You beter check out the wiper transmission, because this (as you discovered) can be a dangerous situation. The saab wiper transmission is odd to say the least. The motor drives the passenger side wiper via a "hard linkage. It drives the driver's side wiper via a cable connected to a cam. The cable can become disconnected from the cam, or it can break. In either case you end up with a passenger who can see fine and driver who can not.
