Ummm... aren't you *all* missing something here...? A mechanic isn't someone who's supposed to know stuff *for* you... you own a car. If you can't fix it, and can't learn how by asking those who *do* know how (what this ng's for??)... then how will you *ever* know the work was done right? My roommate (a professional mechanic) repaired a Ford Bronco II with a 2.8 V-6; it needed an engine rebuild, and he rebuilt it... and made a mistake (come on, he was 19 then)... he put one gasket on upside down, which caused oil and water to mix... not fatal, if caught in time, and his test drive wasn't long enough to exhibit the problem, but when the "oil" light came on (the oil and coolant had by then become *quite* friendly)... she didn't believe there was a problem, as the engine "was new" (no, my roommate never represented his work that way). So she continued to drive it, no problem... a day, and blown engine. Next day, her attorney's letter in the mail... It's sad; there was a time when you needed to *understand* the equipment you were using...
