sounds like lack of routine maintenance by the previous owner. ive owned several cars like that, one being my vw, which ive poured 2500 dollars into over only 40 k miles of use. but its not a bad car. im sorry you ended up with a difficult one. the "different " parts you list are just what make saabs unique. not the cost, but their engineering is what gives the car the reliability and feel it has. difference is what makes it better- anyone telling you saabs are "different" obviously hasnt worked on many types of cars. they're all different.
