Subject: '86 9000T + '89 9000T = ?????

Hello all, I hope an experienced Saab mechanic could advise me on a project I'm thinking of undertaking. I have a 86 9000T, engine and manual transmission are in excellent condition but the body is %100 cosmetically destroyed. I have a option to get a '89 9000T with a blown engine and automatic transmission, the transmission may be bad also. The 89's body is in great shape, some interior pieces have been stripped already. My question is how similar are the two cars? Could I install my '86 engine and manual transmission into the '89? Will the engine mounts line up? Will the manual fit in the automatic's place? Please post any advice or if you know of any resource I can consult. Thanks!
