Subject: 10,000 Mile service

Hi, I recently brought my 9-3 in for the scheduled 10,000 mile service. I'm wondering if I can still keep my warranty valid by not having these done and doing the checks elsewhere instead of the Saab dealer - mostly the scheduled oil change. You see, what seemed to be essentially a glorified oil change and tire rotation ended up costing $140 including tax. I had already added in washer fluid since the stuff they included when new froze and was useless during the winter freeze here, I check my tire pressures, I check to see that my fluids are ok, I clean my windows and replace my wiper blades (which they didn't do). In other words, I know how and do basic safety checks on my car and only really need the basics and feel ripped off to pay so much for what would really only take around 20 minutes to perform. (they kept the car for the 90 minutes although most of the time it was unattended - I think to justify the labor charge) I don't look forward to 20,000, and especially 30,000!
