It is interesting that you cited this example of gun violence. A major supporter of gun control tried to do just that. He shot a drunk teenager walking on his lawn with a handgun, fortunately the teenager lived. The strangest thing about this was that it occurred in Washington D.C. - where handguns are illegal for civilians to own. But I try very hard not to be a hypocrite about it. The people who drive Saabs should not criticize firearms - if they have any integrity. A current production Saab fighter plane is designed to easily kill far more people than a pistol. Saab is still proud to associate the cars with the fighters, just look at the ads and the Saab magazine. If driving a Saab makes you feel good - keep it up, they are fine cars, but don't forget its heritage and what else Saab manufactures. The reason for this venting is that I am trying hard to raise my children to be honest, objective and have personal integrity. This is hard in the light of the current moral standards, especially in the United States. I have answered questions like why it bad to wear furs but not bad to wear leather, since they both come from dead animals. Raising children is an eye opening experience! Hopefully it is somewhat easier in Canada.
