Yes, it was meant as a joke. From what my American friends tell me, however, firearms and the potential for killing animals (humans included) is much more heavily ingrained in the culture in the 'states. In high school, I remember something about the gov. encouraging guns to fight the British and that mentality stuck. I don't know how true this is. All I know is that guns are quite controlled here; the 'states aren't exporting ammo up here as much anymore and that in some states it's legal to kill people for walking on your lawn. The ounce of truth in the joke is that those who live by and for peace seem to understand that many companies encourage, and profit by, killing. Those who feel that their rights are being thwarted by gun control attack any group of people who have a member who opposes them. I know tree-hugging-hippies (myself included) who love Saabs. They know they are driving a Saab that originated from fighter jets, but the car makes them feel good. They park their cars at Green Peace meetings, and all of a sudden all Saab owners and dealers want to kill those who want to kill... -Chris Four Weis <> wrote in message news:38C1E909.5D8847B0nopsamcom... > It is risky to generalize about people.
