Subject: '89 9000i Airflow meter

hello everyone, I've been reading in on this 'group for a few months now and I know that there is a wealth of knowledge and ability out there, please give me some advice. my 9000i has started to misfire and run rough when in low speed/ high demand situations such as powering away after corners and has occasional misfires when on the straight. I've fitted a new fuel filter and after checking the pump's internals, finding crap and metal filings inside the plastic housing I fitted a new pump too. One problem I do know may be that the hot-wire in the AFM is covered in soot and there is no 2 or 3 second burn off on the hot-wire after turning off the engine. Will I be able to clean the hot-wire or should I leave it alone because I know it has a rare metal surface. will I damage it rubbing it and does any one know where the supply for the burn off comes from, I wonder if there is a faulty relay somewhere. All and any help will be very welcome, thanks folks. -- Bill Mohan
