Yes you can partly dismantle them without removing the hoses. You can remove the whole caliper from the hub via the two bolts and locking tab. Prize the piston from the rear where it slots in the yolk - if you try to seperate it anywhere else you will pull off the handbrake mechanism which can be a real pain to put back. You can and should pull out the handbrake actuator rod and lever as this often seizes - get it in the vice and give it a good clean with a wire brush. Do this with all the other components especialy the areas where the yolk and body slide and where the large retaining spring contacts. It's also a good idea to put the return springs in the vice and bend them in the opposite direction to restore the tension. Give all the sliding surfaces a good coat of copper grease (and only copper grease) especialy the return springs but make sure there are no blobs of grease overhanging the disks or pads where it could fall in. Put it all back together torque up the caliper bolts and remember to bend over the lock tab. Make sure when the hanbrake is off that the levers back off all the way otherwise the self adjusters don't work. I would also be rather generous with the grease on the whole return spring mechanism as this is exposed to the elements and if it siezes up the handbrake won't release properly. The only problem you can have is ,as I have said, if you inadvertently seperate the hand brake mechanism - this can also pull the piston out of the seals if you are realy clumsy - prize it from the back. Finaly - use good pads I have found Textar to be the best (Eurocarparts) they grip the best last a long time and don't produce loads of dust - apparently they are OE. I have tried just about every other make and some were downright dangerous - remember you are trying to stop a heavy car on non vented disks with barely adequate pad area - they need to be the best. I just did mine this weekend. Johann
