Subject: Re: Purchase Saab Convertable

Hello Mr. Service Chief! I didnīt say Saab makes unsafe Saab - I said GM doesnīt know how to make a SAAB - And the poor SAAB guys are trying their best to make a SAAB out of the Astra/Vectra/Calibra thing they īve got from GM! I really believe they tried hard and also placed a lots of modifications into the 900NG 9-3 change, but that is not enough, you canīt change a car design completely if you have to use the parts! It was also a problem to make a 9000 out of a ALFA/LANCIA but it was more successful cause they made lots of modifications to the base group. (the 9000 was awarded to the safest car) For my point of view the structural integrety of the 900NG base group is too low (or: at GM/Opel level), that may be the reason for the dome bar in the enginge compartment. When one drove an old 900 against a fix barier at 35mph (55kmh) then 2/3 of the front wind screen where intact - and I believe you know the design of the old 900 wind screen! Of course nowadays they drive with 40mph (64kmh) but it would be very nice if the passenger compartment would stop collapsing at the ends of the front wheel housings and not at the front seats. And this is a design philosophy! I think Saab makes still a fine job and the 900NG is a nice car, but itīs not dramatically revolutionary - everyone I know expected more from the "new" 900 and was disappointed. (we still love the 9-5!!!) I know that the new 9-3(II) convertible must be nearly finished but maybee you are the right one to tell that we want to see a longer hood (no cap forward design), a luggage compartment that has the size of the old 900conv. and a roll over protection for the one that are sitting on the rear seats (we like the guys in the second row too!) If they take a modified wheel suspension of the 9-5, the design of the old 900 convertible and the crash behaviour of the 9-5 - Iīd sign the contract immediatly (even with the new V6 LPT)! - thatīs what I expect from a SAAB and I want to get for my money (and I wouldnīt care if the price will be at the same level as the old 900 convertible was - if Iīd like an Astra convertible I`d buy one for less money) Maybee you can tell that your Sales Director..
