IMHO, keep the bus, and rebuild the motor (if it's not too fried), or replace it. Air-cooled VW engines are very durable with proper maintainence. They are also very simple to work on, and parts are easy to get too. I have a 73 Super I put 100 miles on every weekday, at 70~75 MPH, and it's just as reliable as anything else. It's broken down twice in the last year, once a fuel pump went, and the other time the generator's bushings went. I rebuilt the engine myself, about 35,000 miles ago, and it's still running strong. I know an awful lot more about that engine now than I did when I rebuilt it. There are plenty of things I wish I'd done to it while it was apart, but all in all, it was a great learning experience. If you get rid of that bus, especially if it's your first car, you'll miss it someday. I've missed my first car, a 68 Beetle ever since I wrecked it. Jusy my 2 cts.
