The haynes manual is good. The front brakes are a sore spot in the lives of the saab owner. You bought new calipers .. that is good ... you could have rebuilt them as well and saved some $$ in anycase the major gotcha is the tool you will need. Buy one, do not try to makeshift the thing. Buy it from the saab dealer or order it from mailorder. IT will make you day much happier. anyway you back off the piston using the tool. then you bang the funny bolt lock-things flat. Use a 1/2 ratchet and 6point deep well socket to get the two caliper bolts off. Or use a box wrench. On my '84 turbo those bolts would not budge on the driver side. Be prepared to use a lot of force. I had to pull the entire A-frame and steering knuckle and take it to a machine shop ... but that is another story. but yea, pull the calipers, throw the new ones on. bleed the brake system (no need to presure bleed) I use a hand vacume pump remeber to bend those funky caliper bolt-locking-things back you WILL lose the caliper bolts (while driving) if you don't have fun. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
