Subject: A project to help automotive supply chains - SMILE

Introducing The SMILE Project. http://www.smile.anglia.ac.uk 'Small to Medium Size Enterprise Internet Learning Experience'. We are a consortium dedicated to assisting UK Eastern region automotive and aerospace industries. If you are interested in joining the SMILE project contact me through the mail address at the bottom of this posting What the project aims to do 1. Assist small and medium enterprises in the automotive and aerospace industries to readily adopt Internet technologies appropriate to their needs 2. Generate discussion about good practice between compatible companies, thereby releasing the potential of the knowledge and expertise that has developed within British industry. Benefits for participants Participants will improve their competitive advantage by: 1. Learning to use the Internet to find valuable information and resources, communicate with others, and developing their online profile. 2. Rapidly improving their competitive edge by adapting current good practice to their own business. 3. Gaining a stronger business network How is this done? 1. Companies not yet online will be connected to the internet and where appropriate be assisted to get the most out of their computer. 2. Web pages will be tailored to provide immediate access to online engineering journals, databases and resources. 3. Staff of SMEs will participate in online discussions about industry relevant issues, and generate a network to allow quick problem solving. This is an unprecedented opportunity to participate in the design of an online system to meet the specific needs of your industry. Participating companies will help us to improve the health of the whole of their industry! Our History The UK Eastern region has a rich bed of expertise.
