Subject: Re: Saab Oil Change Interval??

If it were my Saab, I would change the oil and filter. It has also been stated that the oil and filter should be changed every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes FIRST. It is well past the 3 month interval and 1000 miles past the 3000 mile interval. You have not done any damage to the engine by going 4000 miles and also most 5 months, but then I would not delay an oil and filter change too much longer. Let's try not to re-start the war about synthetic versus mineral oil. I will keep it short. I use synthetic oil in my Saab and the other Swedish car. My '86 900 is running just fine with close over 200,000 miles without any engine work other than scheduled maintenance. My the other '82 turbo Swedish car (over 200,000 miles) is doing just fine with just scheduled maintenance. I have gone as far as 6,000 miles between oil changes. Some will say I have wasted money on synthetics, others will say it is only because of synthetics that I have gotten 18 years out of a turbo with no repair work. Its your money, you get to make the final decision. Good luck and enjoy the Saab! Paul Hutchings wrote: > I have a 1995 Saab 900i, last service was 55k in December 99.
