Subject: Re: 85 900T possible overheating?????

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 1983 900 (no turbo, no a/c). Bled the air out of the system, ran the coolant via the cabin heater matrix (all as suggested below), with only marginal effect. Decided to dump the coolant, removed block heater coil, and flushed / reverse flushed the block. Removed both hoses from radiator and flushed both ways. Stuck it all back together and found that temperatures were still too high as before. No leaks anywhere either. Pushed the radiator core around a bit. Pipes were all good but the stuff in between was virtually powder. So flow in radiator was excellent but there was no heat dissipation because the elements were rotten. No metal mass to be seen anywhere. I put in a new radiator the next day. Very lucky I did because I ended up in a slow queue in a tunnel soon afterwards. Without the new radiator I would've certainly cracked the head (have experienced that too, when my fan gave out one day - that was a real mess to fix). Could you be having the same problem?
