This may not be related, but I noticed in my '86 that the engine ran cooler with the AC on. It seems that a cooling fan is running all the time with the AC on to handle the extra heat. Since it was 92 I would assume that the AC was on. Was the AC blowing cool air? If not, maybe the AC system needs to be checked.
