I have also noticed the same thing in my 1999 9-3. When I take out a CD I wait a few seconds because it is so hot I'm afraid it might melt the plastic sleeve in my travel CD case. I thought it might be related to having the heat on but I have noticed it now in the spring when I don't have the heat on. I also noticed that the headlight selector knob is also quite warm.
