Subject: more (*&^%$#% clutch trouble, 900s

Thanks to all who helped me get the clutch in and out (finally :-) It worked well for one week. It is now doing something that I find incomprehensible. When the car is in gear and running, after the clutch releases appx. 1mm, it dumps. If the foot is held on the pedal at this time (engine has died) examination shows that the clutch is all the way engaged, even though the pedal says it should be disengaged. Now, release the pedal and depress again and the slave cylinder/release bearing work perfectly. The clutch performed fine for about 2 days, then this problem started (driveably at first) and progressively got worse. I've tried these: Engine not running, gearbox in neutral. You can press the clutch pedal forevr and it works just fine. Engine not running, gearbox in gear (any), same results. Engine running and gearbox in neutral. Same results. Engine running and gearbox in any gear, tiny start toward engagement and it dumps....every time. Can someone suggest a reason for this? Clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing just replaced. Master cylinder and slave cylinder rebuilt. All worked just fine for a few days. Also keep in mind that it happens ONLY if the engine is running and the box in gear. One more think, after the clutch dumps and kills the engine, if the driver has not let go the pedal, examination of the clutch assembly will show the slave cylinder retracted, as if the pedal were NOT depressed. Stranger and stranger. I've been working on cars and motorcycles since 1957 and have NEVER experienced anything like this. Cheers/Don Carron private replies to StepHydronopsamcom
