Subject: Re: fwd vs. rwd

An interesting aside. I just sold a 1994 VW Jetta (bora) glx. It had the v6, and It was the best snow car I have ever had. It had the fwd and in addition, it had a limited slip front differential. It was very impressive to point the wheels where you wanted to go and accelerate out with little fanfare. I was a bit surprised that my 96 900SE did not come with the limited slip differential. I feel that this was a definite safety enhancement especially for drivers which are not performance oriented. Such a differential also has the benefit that performance oriented drivers can accelerate a bit harder out of a turn, when we are so inclined, without spinning the inside front wheel. Do later model Saabs come with a type of limited slip differential as standard? I would think the higher HP versions must just to enhance the stability.
