Great car (apart from the tyre wear!!!). > > > Wow! You mustn't have kept the other two for very long - they only > came out in 1998 (here in Oz anyway). First one in February 98 - a 2.0 Manual in Embassy Blue, then the second in September 99 (Metallic Silver - another 2.0 Manual), and finally, this one in Mar 99, a 2.0SE Auto in Metallic Silver. All were bought under concessions within the Diplo Sales Scheme. Of all three cars, the only problems I've had are - Number 1 - rear passenger door lock locked and wouldn't open again. Number 2, zero faults. This one, the alarm kept going off by itself, and it has the tyre wear issue. There is one other strange fault that I haven't had rectified - mine is a RHD car, and the caption on the dash that shows whether or not the doors are open, shows the reverse of what is the case! ie, if the drivers door is open, it shows the passenger door caption, and vice versa. Happens for front and rear doors. I suspect there is a wire crossed in the loom or something. > I started with Saab in 1973 with a 2 door 99, went through a couple > more 99's then 900's, passing the older ones down to the kids. Actually, I always liked the 9000, and when I was eventually in a position to buy a new car, the 9-5 had came out, so that is what I went with. > I usually put over 100,000 miles (not km) on each one, and the only > trouble I ever had was with auto transmissions - over 7 99's and 900's > in total I had 3 auto transmission failures, all around 35-40,000 > miles. Good mileages - Possibly down to your increased pressures from what you have said. > I had quite a few minor troubles with my 9-5 initially, the worst > being an intermittently faulty engine computer, but Saab fixed > everything under warranty and it is now running really well (cross > fingers). Not so impressed with the resale value of the 9-5 though. I'm glad I bought mine with a good discount and tax-free. That has saved me the first year's depreciation on the car. However, if I'd paid the full-price for the car, I'd be a bit annoyed. > Have fun And you. Simon
