If in fact the starter motor is turning but not engageing, the solinoid that pushs the starter gear into the flywheel is broke. It's an automatic trans so you can't push start it? Been a little while since I was in Champaign, but there should be a SAAB or foreign car mech. closer than 50 miles. Check the phone book for parts stores that would carry the solinoid and then ask the parts guy for a referal.
