David - I have spiders in my drivers side mirror, none in my passenger side. I have tried blasting with a jetwash, and they still come back!!! So there may be a grain of truth in your dealers suggestion! I haven't got a sunroof on mine so I can't comment further. However, with the window slightly open when it is raining, water has a tendency to pour in! That is a design problem for sure!
